Geodynamics WorldWide conducted a combined survey of passive seismic spectroscopy and surface geochemical sampling on Block 2A in Kenya for Simba Energy. The area extended to almost 4000 km2 which makes it the largest survey area of Geodynamics so far. The survey took 45 days. 218 passive seismic datasets and 668 surface geochemical samples were acquired. To accommodate client’s needs, some acquisition positions were shifted during the survey and preliminary near to real-time results were provided.Among the purposes of the project was the study of the existing leads P1, P2 and P3, identified by the client on the basis of existing geological and geophysical data. We provided an Integration Report of the passive seismic results, the geochem anomalies and the gravity data available to Simba Energy. Overall, 7 potential zones were identified after our survey. Lead P1 (ca. 29 km²) is confirmed characterized by highest level of hydrocarbon seismic energy within this survey. Lead P2 (ca. 100 km²) was also confirmed, giving new information to client in additional to the available 2D seismic. Lead P3 is confirmed as well and fits exceptionally well with 2D coverage. Simba Energy intends running a 2D seismic over P1 to gain enough information to support a decision to drill.
